What ISO 14001 confirms

The standard requires a company to understand its environmental impacts (emissions, waste, wastewater, energy and resource use), comply with legal requirements and reduce impacts in a planned way. The certificate confirms that such a system works.

ISO 14001:2026

The fourth edition was published on 15 April 2026 and replaced ISO 14001:2015 together with its 2024 climate amendment. A transition period applies to 2015 certificates; we confirm the dates for your certificate with the certification body. New projects are built to the 2026 edition.

3. Register of applicable legal requirements: emissions, waste, water use.
4. Environmental policy, objectives, programmes, emergency preparedness.
5. Training, internal audit and management review.
6. Two-stage certification audit and annual surveillance.

ISO 14001 shares a common structure with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001, so the three are often combined into one integrated system.
