ISO 9001 for tenders and export

When an ISO 9001 certificate is needed for a specific tender, contract or foreign buyer, details decide the outcome: which designation is required, whose accreditation is accepted and by what date the certificate must be in hand. ISO 9001 in Ukrainian public procurement

Buyers set requirements in tender documents. Article 23 of the Law of Ukraine on Public Procurement allows buyers to require certificates and other means of proving conformity and requires the words "or equivalent" next to references to standards in technical specifications. Wording varies: "ISO 9001", "DSTU ISO 9001:2015", "DSTU EN ISO 9001:2018", sometimes with a scope that must cover the subject of procurement.

What we check before you bid

• the designation and edition of the standard named by the buyer;
• the certification scope, which must cover the subject of procurement;
• validity on the bid date and completed surveillance audits;
• the body's accreditation and whether the certificate can be verified in a register;
• company name and address on the certificate matching the state register.

ISO 9001 for exporters

Foreign buyers, distributors and retail chains often require ISO 9001 for supplier approval and verify certificates in the issuing body's register or in IAF CertSearch. Certificates are issued in English. ISO 9001 covers the company's management system; products covered by EU legislation separately need CE marking.
